Each year, the Millard West Band Boosters sign-up to work a concession stand food booth at the College
World Series. Held at Rosenblatt Stadium for 10 days in June, this fund raiser brings in thousands of
baseball fans from across the country and is one of Omaha's premier sporting events; receiving nationally
televised coverage. This event raises a significant portion of the annual band operating budget for the
band and requires a significant commitment from many band families - fortunately, it only lasts for 10
days! In order to staff a booth at the College World Series, we must also agree to work a minimum of
five other, smaller sport venues at Rosenblatt Stadium or the Civic Auditorium before or after the Series.
Each year, a Concession Stand Coordinator helps to communicate and train all new volunteers, register
the appropriate number of people for each event and identify lead individuals to "manage" the Millard
West Band Stand at each scheduled game, so things run smoothly. Always remember, that this is a great
team fund-raiser where we get to work together, get to know each other, raise money and teach our kids
the value of running a "business" - learning things like inventory, stocking, food preparation, customer
service and marketing!
